Job summary

Charlottetown Alexander B. Campbell Airport seeks a Supervisor, Security & Compliance reporting to Director, Regulatory Affairs to oversee the Airport Security Program and regulatory compliance activities, ensuring security, access control and compliance meet Transport Canada standards.

You will lead investigations, inspections, audits, and corrective action tracking, and support SMS alignment and emergency response readiness.

Qualifications

  • Experience in federally regulated environments is an asset.

Job description

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Affairs, the Supervisor, Security & Compliance, is responsible for the administration, oversight, and continuous improvement of the Airport Security Program (ASP) and related regulatory compliance activities at Charlottetown Alexander B. Campbell Airport.

The role ensures that all security, access control, and compliance activities meet Transport Canada regulatory requirements and internal standards. The Supervisor provides leadership in security investigations, inspections, audits, and corrective action tracking, while supporting operational readiness and regulatory engagement.

The position supports integration of the Airport Security Program with the Airport Safety Management System (SMS) and Emergency Response Program, ensuring alignment across safety, security, and compliance functions.

This role requires sound judgment, discretion, and a high degree of integrity. Flexibility is required, as duties may occur outside normal working hours in response to operational or security-related events.

Requirements & Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a combination of operational experience, regulatory knowledge, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and the ability to work effectively in a regulated airport environment.

Education and Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in aviation management, public safety, emergency management, security, compliance, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of three to five years of related experience in airport operations, aviation security, emergency response, regulatory compliance, or a similar operational environment.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a federally regulated environment, preferably within an airport, transportation, public safety, or security setting, is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting, administering, or monitoring compliance with operational manuals, regulatory programs, policies, procedures, inspections, audits, and corrective action processes.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, track compliance requirements, follow up on corrective actions, and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspond with internal and external stakeholders, document investigations, and communicate requirements clearly to staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify compliance gaps, operational risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Sound judgement, tact, diplomacy, and discretion when handling sensitive security, safety, personnel, or regulatory matters.
  • Ability to work independently, respond to issues with limited notice, and exercise good judgement outside normal business hours when required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use digital systems for documentation, reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance tracking.
Certifications and Conditions of Employment:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Security Clearance and Restricted Area Identity Card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s licence.
  • Must be willing to complete required training.
  • Must be able to respond to security, emergency, or compliance matters outside regular business hours when required.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain a strong commitment to safety, security, regulatory compliance, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
