Job Description

The Sewing Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and planning the activities of the Sewing Machine Operators, ensuring that the team is performing at a high level and reaching daily quotas.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Responsible for the main supervision of sewing machine operators
  2. Review the factory loading schedule daily and plan production accordingly
  3. Review the approved production sample and specifications before beginning production for each released purchase order
  4. Calculate how many sewing machine operators are required - based on 100% efficiency, per operation, and per style on orders cut and bundled to meet daily quotas.
  5. Assign the appropriate operators with matching skills to appropriate tasks
  6. Responsible for training and providing instruction to sewing machine operators in the department.
  7. Follow through with training for each operator to ensure they have a clear understanding of how to operate with acceptable efficiency and quality.
  8. Regularly update operators on how many units per hour and per day is required for 100% efficiency
  9. Advise the Manager of Production when operators are performing at acceptable levels to be timed (if at a temporary rate)
  10. Review payroll daily to measure both efficiencies and inefficiencies
  11. Review low performers and work with them to create action plans for improvement
  12. Perform quality checks on each operator in your department throughout the day
  13. Ensure all quality issues are being addressed and make corrections for improvement
  14. Provide a safe environment within the department and manufacturing floor
  15. Communicate core values to the team

Let's Talk About You:

  1. 5+ years of sewing experience, preferably in the apparel manufacturing industry
  2. 2-3 years supervisory experience
  3. Able to complete the Pre Production Sample independently
  4. Must be able to deal effectively with diverse group of workers
  5. Must be familiar with sewing machine operations
  6. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  7. Leadership and interpersonal skills
  8. Able to prioritize and operate proactively, handling issues in a calm manner when appropriate
  9. Able to stand for extended periods of time
