Job summary

Vale Base Metals is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join the Creighton mine team in Sudbury, Ontario. This permanent onsite role operates on a 5/4 rotating days/afternoons schedule, leading a crew to meet safety and production targets.

You will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with safety programs, and coordinate resources while mentoring staff and coordinating investigations as needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED required.
• Common Core: First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core (770121) or similar preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience underground is preferred; MS Office proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage operations to achieve safe, efficient production targets.
• Promote Zero Harm by enforcing safety programs and risk controls.
• Monitor production, quality, cost, and capital performance; take corrective action.
• Conduct crew line-ups, communicate risks, and participate in investigations.
• Support injury management and return-to-work programs with healthcare providers.
• Coach, mentor, and manage workforce performance; handle discipline when needed.
• Coordinate resources, inventories, overtime, and work schedules to meet requirements.
• Plan, monitor, and improve work execution with accurate reporting and handovers.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an operations Supervisor to join our Creighton mine Team in Sudbury, Ontario.

The role is a permanent onsite position, working 5/4 rotating days and afternoons. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As a Supervisor, Production you will continuously improve the work team performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives following Vale's Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Lead and manage operations to achieve safe, efficient, and cost-effective production and maintenance targets.
• Promote a Zero Harm culture by ensuring compliance with safety programs, procedures, and risk management practices.
• Monitor production, quality, cost, and capital performance, taking corrective action as needed to meet targets.
• Conduct crew line-ups, communicate risks, manage incident reporting, and participate in investigations.
• Support injury management and employee return-to-work programs in collaboration with healthcare providers.
• Manage workforce performance through training, qualification tracking, coaching, mentoring, discipline, and grievance resolution.
• Coordinate resources, inventories, materials, overtime, and work schedules to support operational requirements.
• Plan, assign, monitor, and continuously improve work execution while ensuring accurate reporting, work order completion, and effective shift handovers.

About You

Education:

• Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required
• Common Core: First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core (770121) or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (770120) is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience working underground is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products is required.

Skills:

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
• Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
