Job summary

Vale Base Metals is seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance (PS) for the Coleman Mine in Sudbury, Ontario. This on-site, permanent role focuses on planning, scheduling, and supervision of maintenance activities to improve plant performance.

The incumbent will manage work orders, coordinate with schedulers, monitor KPIs, and lead a team to ensure safety and reliability while facilitating process improvements and commissioning new facilities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Grade 12 or GED; college diploma or university degree in a related industrial field preferred.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance planning and scheduling is desirable.
  • Knowledge of MPC processes and SAP/Prometheus is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) processes using approved systems and standards.
  • Plan and execute work orders, including shutdowns and external resource work.
  • Manage backlog to prioritize safety and end dates; maintain work order statuses.
  • Coordinate with Scheduler to follow planning/scheduling routines.
  • Monitor KPIs and manage budgets, escalating when exceeded.
  • Provide relief supervision when required, ensuring safe behavior and teamwork.
  • Lead process improvements and assist commissioning of new facilities.
  • Turn over MSTs to the plant after commissioning.

The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance (PS) to join our Coleman Mine team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site position. The work schedule is Monday to Friday ? 8 hour days. This posting is for an existing position vacancy. As a Millwright Maintenance Planner/Supervisor, you will be helping to facilitate the continuous improvement of the Maintenance team's performance, through the effective use of established processes and procedures. Your experience and skills will be accountable for the project planning of work for the Coleman Mine Department and may be required to provide relief supervision as needed. Additionally, in this position you will:


Responsibilities


  • Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.

  • Execute the \"Planning\" element of the process for all types of work orders, systematic and non-systematic maintenance, which includes shutdown (PMP) and external resource-related work.

  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with emphasis on safety and based on priority and required end date. Ensure work order users' statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order.

  • Coordinate and facilitate with the Scheduler to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.

  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets. Work within assigned budgets and escalated to management should a budget be exceeded. Identify and escalated to management should a budget be exceeded.

  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other planners, schedulers, and crew members.

  • Perform relief supervisor duties as required which requires holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism; and work with the team to develop an interactive workplace environment.

  • Project planning and facilitation on process improvements.

  • Commissioning new facilities and helping create MST's to turn over to the plant.


Qualifications

About You Education:Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency with equivalent experience is required. The ideal candidate will have a College Diploma or University Degree in a related industrial field
