Job summary

Revital Polymers is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a skilled team of trades, technicians and contractors in a hands-on, safety-focused role. You will direct maintenance planning, preventive programs, and repairs across a multi-site facility, coordinating with production, quality, and HR.

You will regulate equipment performance, manage inventories, and support capital projects and environmental/safety programs while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Revital Polymers - Maintenance Supervisor

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team of Trade workers, Technicians, Specialists, and Contractors, to keep our manufacturing facility running effectively &efficiently. In this hands‑on leadership role, you will ensure safety, drive operational excellence, and contribute directly to our innovative plant improvement initiatives and projects.
You will ensure the management of plant utilities in order to guarantee the energy supply, the air conditioning/climate control for both production sites and offices; and ensuring maintenance activities/services in relation to any buildings/structures at the plant site.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with all required legal regulations.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain a planning and scheduling routine and preventive maintenance of equipment, prioritizing and estimating work and technical assistance when developing job plans.
  • Coordinate daily cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Manage, motivate, develop and provide direct leadership to maintenance staff.
  • Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
  • Assist with site environmental conformance as well as hazardous material programs.
  • Ensure to maintain adequate inventories of tools, supplies and parts to accurately repair all equipment.
  • Collaborating across production, quality, and HR to keep operations flowing effectively and efficiently
  • Partnering with OEMs and suppliers to source parts and troubleshooting support
  • Assisting with maintenance scheduling and intervention planning
  • Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the facility, property and houses onsite
  • Complete repairs and general maintenance around the facility and property such as painting, carpentry, etc.
  • Diagnose and carry out minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors to schedule repairs in a timely manner to avoid downtime.
  • Utilize company work order software to ensure work is properly tracked and managed.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet operational expectations
  • Yard maintenance including but not limited to plowing snow, salting, cutting grass etc.
  • Assist the production team with paperwork and coverage as required.
  • Enforce and monitor compliance with company and industry policies, procedures and regulations, health and safety, and security programs and activities.
  • Participate in/lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Coach, train, manage and evaluate staff performance.
  • Lead in disciplinary actions when needed, supported by Human Resources.
  • Communicates with supervisors and management any plant related problems and concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with CFIA, ESA, Human Rights Commission and MOL, WSIB.
  • Responsible for monitoring predetermined machine part inventory stock levels and maintaining existing vendor relations
  • Monitor labour costs and determines overtime hours as required
  • Ensure all employees are working to the highest safety standards and participate in safety training for all personnel
  • Assist with Capital project administration and oversee contractor supervision
  • Distribute workforce to the assigned tasks that best utilizes and applies the skills and knowledge of the resources available
  • Maintain close daily relationship to the area production supervisors
  • Monitor the daily progress of the maintenance trades to assigned tasks
  • Work hands on with the maintenance team as needed for breakdowns, troubleshooting, and assessments
  • Recognize and recommend employee training needs to the Maintenance Manager including skills upgrading, apprenticeship development etc. to promote internal growth and develop core manufacturing equipment maintenance knowledge
  • Report and recommend employee disciplinary actions to the Maintenance Manager
  • Review submitted maintenance request forms (MRF’s), assign workforce accordingly, check for completeness and submit to Maintenance Manager/Coordinator
  • Work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure the safety of all workers is ensured with production and maintenance equipment that is maintained in safe operating condition
  • Advise the Maintenance Manager of modifications to existing Preventative Maintenance programs (PM’s) and development of new programs
  • Communicate directly with equipment suppliers and vendors on equipment repair issues and parts specification to expedite emergency repairs
  • Provide direction to any sub-contractors performing maintenance or project work
  • Oversee routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of recycling equipment, such as shredders, balers, conveyors, and sorting systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with operations management to optimize equipment utilization and performance.
  • Administer maintenance software program to track work orders, inventory use, product replacement histories, and scheduled preventative maintenance. Reviews work order logs and sets priorities for work order completion
  • Establishes and implements auditing procedures for maintenance inventory. Monitors inventory levels while remaining within established budgets.
  • Directs the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, steps, and driveways
  • Provides feedback and recommendations for rehabilitation projects
  • Programming, Maintaining Allen Bradley PLC Controlled machines, Vision System, maintaining MES Systems, Local IT support, troubleshooting & adjusting Fanuc Robots, maintaining inventory system.
  • Maintain efficiency levels, Improvise maintenance operations to save on costs and work time, implement best practices, standards and procedures in all maintenance functionalities. Manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
  • Driving Key Performance indicators (KPI's), creation and implementation of best practice, adhere to daily and weekly check to ensure smooth operation of site. Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of hydraulic systems. Adhere to daily and weekly check to ensure smooth operation of site.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Trade Millwright – A MUST
  • Supervision experience within an industrial manufacturing facility preferred (3-5 years)
  • Dedicated to promoting safety in the workplace
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex problems
  • Efficient time-management skills and strong work ethic
  • Proficient in MS Office and have solid computer skills
  • Strong team player
  • Strong communication/language skills - both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems, including inventory control, preventive maintenance, and work order record keeping
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment including HVAC, landscaping, carpentry, painting, hydraulic systems, and electric motors
  • Knowledge in electrical troubleshooting of high and low voltage and the use of diagnostic equipment, including volt/ohm meters
  • Proficiency in plumbing repairs and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
