Job summary

The University of Alberta is seeking a Landscape Services Worker II – Supervisor to support grounds operations across Campus Saint-Jean, South Campus, and North Campus in Edmonton. In this role you will assist the Manager in delivering landscape services, supervise staff, monitor performance, approve time cards, schedule vacations, and coordinate daily tasks within your service area.

The Landscape Services Worker II – Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Manager, Landscape Services in the provision of Grounds services. In addition to carrying out the regular duties of the Landscape Services Worker II - Grounds position, the Landscape Services Worker II - Supervisor has additional areas of responsibility including monitoring and reporting staff performance to manager, time card approval, vacation scheduling, guidance & co-ordination to the team of staff delivering area landscape services within their designated service area.

Landscape Services Worker II - Supervisor will be responsible as an acting Manager when the Manager is absent. The position performs a vast number of duties using heavy, light and small equipment, as well as hand tools and manual labor. These duties include (but are not limited to) the maintenance and construction of hard/soft landscaping, pond maintenance, furnishings, signs, snow removal, irrigation installation and repair, pruning, special event set up and take downs, miscellaneous task and daily repairs/maintenance of equipment used for each task listed above. These activities are guided by standard operating procedures, site plans, blueprints, excavation permits and traffic disruption permits.
