Job summary

EllisDon is a leading construction and facilities services firm seeking a Supervisor, Facilities Operations to manage mechanical and electrical systems in a large healthcare setting. You will oversee a supervisory team, handle budgets, and ensure contractual and regulatory compliance while maintaining continuous operations.

The role requires 5 years of engineering management experience, deep building systems knowledge, and the ability to coordinate union trades.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of engineering management experience in maintenance, healthcare or similar.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Fire Code and healthcare facility standards.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and ICAT systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading a unionized trades team.
  • Contract management and union grievance resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; SLA/KPI interpretation.

Responsibilities

  • Full accountability for mechanical and electrical equipment to meet operational and code requirements.
  • Lead programs for resilience and lifecycle works in a large, busy facility.
  • Drive Continuous Quality Improvement to optimize asset performance and use of staff and budget.
  • Oversee a supervisory team managing in-house and subcontracted staff.
  • Deliver financial and departmental management of facilities services on site.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize CMMS systems for capacity, data integrity and results.

You As a Supervisor, Facilities Operations Will
  • Full accountability for ensuring that all mechanical and electrical equipment such as chillers, boilers, air handlers, and other building systems continually meet the operational/statutory requirements of the complex and further support our contractual goals of continuous operation/ availability.
  • Responsible for programs that ensure the resilience of building systems, including the continuous planning and execution of lifecycle works, being mindful of operational requirements of a large and busy community hospital.
  • Leadership of Continuous Quality Improvement objectives to streamline operations, remove redundancies, optimize asset performance and best utilize staff, systems and budget
  • Oversight of a supervisory team that in turn manage the Day to day functioning of the in-house and subcontracted support team. Broad responsibility to ensure that effective maintenance and asset replacement schedules are in place, and ensure the building equipment is tested, serviced and maintained to meet both contractual and Code obligations.
  • Financial and departmental management and delivery of all facilities services at the site
  • Operational jurisdiction of all financial objectives, compliance with Health and Safety standards, equipment and facility performance monitoring, analysis and reporting as well as act as a technical “go to” for the site
  • CMMS systems optimization delivering capacity optimization, data integrity and results
Is this the right role for you?
  • You have 5 years of engineering management experience in a maintenance environment, ideally in healthcare or other complex, high demand maintenance/production environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, and relevant healthcare facility standards, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements
  • Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and ICAT (Information, Communication & Automation Technology) systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance oversight, and system performance monitoring
  • You are an individual with broad and applied technical knowledge and cost control of building operations, maintenance, health & safety, and construction management abilities
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements to support safe and compliant operation of building systems
  • You are a critical thinker with exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, SLA/KPI interpretation skills
  • Experience working with a large unionized team of skilled and non-skilled trades.
  • Understanding of contract management and union negotiation/grievance resolution skills
  • The salary range for this position is $80,000-90,000
