The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a Trades Supervisor – Electromechanical to lead skilled and semi-skilled staff in electrical and mechanical maintenance, repair, and project work. You will supervise, guide, and review contractor activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in line with regulations and city standards.

The Trades Supervisor – Electromechanical plans, assigns, supervises, reviews, and participates as required in the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled staff engaged in technical servicing, repair, maintenance, construction, and related electrical and mechanical work. The position exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within established departmental policies, standards, and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable legislation, standards, specifications, operating permits, and City requirements. Difficult technical issues, policy matters, and financial considerations are referred to a superior, who reviews work performance based on results achieved and technical accuracy.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the trades and related work supervised.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures related to the servicing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to the work performed.
Ability to plan, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled subordinates and with economy and efficiency in the use of time, equipment and materials.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, manuals, blueprints, diagrams, sketches and other materials related to the work.
Ability to prepare designs and drawings, cost estimates, reports, records and other materials related to the work and order equipment and materials.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, to coordinate work with others, provide advice, and resolve issues related to the work.
Skill in the care and use of tools, machinery and equipment used in the work.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work and completion of a recognized electrical trade apprenticeship, plus considerable related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
