Job summary

Tigercat Industries in Woodstock, Ontario is seeking a Supervisor to coordinate daily activities within their department, ensuring safety, quality and productivity goals are met. You will motivate and lead a team to deliver final products for rugged forestry environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, mediation and interpersonal skills, with experience in Lean initiatives, employee development, and collaboration with HR.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly to team members.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in training, mentoring or developing team members.
  • Ability to address and resolve interpersonal or team conflicts effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Guide team through change and continuous improvement activities.
  • Proactively lead the team to achieve safety, quality and productivity objectives.
  • Demonstrate and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Respond to quality issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Coach, support, motivate, and recognize employees in their work.
  • On-floor leadership, address personnel issues, escalate to Management/HR as needed.
  • Assist in recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement improvement plans.
  • Support Documentation of disability claims, WSIB, return to work plans, etc.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Quality Improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the daily activities within their department, ensuring that quality and production goals are safely met. The Supervisor will motivate and lead a team to form a final product that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, the Supervisor must have effective communication skills and the ability and willingness to mediate difficult interpersonal situations, fostering strong team dynamics.

Job Duties
  • Guide team through change and continuous improvement activities
  • Proactively lead the team to achieve all safety, quality and productivity objectives
  • Demonstrate and ensure compliance with health and safety policies
  • Respond to quality issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions
  • Coach, support, motivate, and recognize employees in their work
  • Actively engage and supervisor with on-floor presence, dealing with personnel issues and/or bringing up any significant issues to the immediate attention of Management and HR
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new employees
  • Conduct regular Performance Reviews and implement Performance Improvement Plans
  • Assist in proper documentation of Disability Claims, WSIB Claims, Return to Work Plans, etc.
  • Involvement and leadership in Lean Manufacturing and Quality Improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • High level of prioritizing, job/task planning and organizing abilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively and efficientlyEffective communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to mediate difficult interpersonal situations
  • Knowledgeable in health and safety legislation
  • Proficient in the use of D365, Dayforce and Microsoft Office suite
