Job summary

Qualifications

  • Regulated clinical professional with current registration, in good standing with applicable college (Registered Nurse or Allied Health preferred).
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent hospital experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and/or supervisory experience in an acute care setting.
  • Strong understanding of patient flow, capacity management, and hospital operations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and occasional after-hours weekday shifts.
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site operational leadership to support safe and efficient patient flow across all clinical areas during assigned shifts.
  • Collaborate with the Manager-On-Call and interdisciplinary leadership team to respond to real-time capacity pressures.
  • Monitor and support implementation of RMH surge protocols, ensuring timely escalation and action.
  • Champion the principle of "the right patient, in the right bed, at the right time".
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between clinical units, Admitting, and support services.
  • Proactively identify and address flow barriers to optimize bed utilization across the organization.
  • Provide clear situational updates and escalated concerns to appropriate leadership as needed.
  • Respond to and support resolution of patient and family concerns or complaints on weekends.
  • Promote a culture of excellent customer service and patient experience across all interactions.
  • Contribute to a culture of patient-centred care, safety, and collaboration.
  • Support initiatives that advance RMH’s strategic goals related to patient flow and system performance.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Patient Flow, the Patient Flow Supervisor provides on-site leadership for patient flow operations, primarily on weekends, with occasional weekday after-hours coverage as required.

This role is integral to supporting safe, efficient patient movement across the organization and advancing RMH’s strategic priorities related to patient flow, capacity management, and timely access to care. Successful candidates must be available to attend orientation and onboarding during weekday hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site operational leadership to support safe and efficient patient flow across all clinical areas during assigned shifts
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager-On-Call and interdisciplinary leadership team to respond to real-time capacity pressures
  • Monitor and support implementation of RMH surge protocols, ensuring timely escalation and action
  • Champion the principle of "the right patient, in the right bed, at the right time"
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between clinical units, Admitting, and support services
  • Proactively identify and address flow barriers to optimize bed utilization across the organization
  • Provide clear situational updates and escalated concerns to appropriate leadership as needed
  • Respond to and support resolution of patient and family concerns or complaints on weekends, including facilitating service recovery when appropriate

This is an onsite position at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, ON.

Effective August 24, 2026 and ending on or before March 31, 2027.

Essential Qualifications
  • Regulated clinical professional with current registration, in good standing with applicable college (Registered Nurse or Allied Health preferred)

Hours of Work

Orientation and initial training will occur during weekday hours and is mandatory.

Current hours are day shifts on weekends. Additional weekday shifts may be available based on operational needs.
