The Mental Health Inpatient Unit is a Schedule 1 adult psychiatry short-term unit that provides assessment, stabilization and short-term treatment. The secured inpatient unit also features a dining room, group work areas and a private terrace for patients. A multidisciplinary team staffs the unit, providing nursing care as well as treatment and activity programs.
Ross Memorial Hospital qualifies for the Government of Canada's Student Loan Forgiveness Program. Nurses may be eligible to receive up to $30,000 in Canada Student Loan forgiveness.
The Registered Nurse in the Ross Memorial Mental Health Program will function as a member of the interdisciplinary team and as such, is involved with cases of a complex clinical nature and is responsible for: assessing and evaluating the biopsychosocial and emotional factors salient to assigned cases. As a Schedule One Facility the nurse is expected to function within an acute care setting (ED Crisis, PICU, Mental Health Inpatient, off ward units) to develop, implement, participate in evaluating the Clients' treatment plan; provide crisis intervention; provide case follow-up and support clients in discharge planning; participate in team conferences; staff meetings and professional development activities; and performing other duties as required.
The Mental Health Program is currently seeking a Permanent Full-Time Registered Nurse No Master position to join their healthcare team.
This position is designated to support both the MHIP and crisis support in the ED along with conducting off-service crisis/mental health assessments and liaison with psychiatry as needed.
Effective Date: September 7, 2026
Must be able to work a no master twelve-hour day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday, including statutory holidays. Shift hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
