Job summary

Vancouver School Board invites applications for On-Call Supervision Aides across East and West Side Vancouver Schools. Salary is $26.82 per hour, with 16% in lieu of benefits. Shifts are 2.5 hours daily from 10:30 a.m.

to 1:00 p.m., Monday to Friday with a minimum of three days per week and occasional short-notice shifts. We seek individuals who can supervise students, ensure safety, and support teachers. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills are essential, with comfort supervising

• Experience working with children in large groups.
• Good communication skills.
• Excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather.
• Ability to speak languages common to ESL students is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and lunch indoors and outdoors, in all weather.
• Ensure student safety and that rules are followed.
• Intervene in unsafe play and facilitate conflict resolutions.
• Supervise students between recess and lunch to ensure behaviour and completion of teacher tasks.
• Walk and stand for the duration of the shift, mostly outdoors.
• Circulate the school grounds, stay alert and aware of surroundings.

In this role you will be:

• Responsible for supervising students during recess and lunch, indoors and outdoors, in all kinds of weather.
• Ensure student safety and that students comply with school rules.
• Intervene in potentially unsafe play situations and facilitate conflict resolutions betweenstudents.
• Required to supervise students between recess and lunch, ensuring appropriate behaviour and completion of teacher assigned work.
• Walkingand standing for the duration of the shift, which is mostly outdoors.
• Required to circulate the school grounds, focus on your surroundings and remain alert at all times.
