The North Vancouver School District is seeking a Supervision Aide – Casual On Call (School Term) to supervise elementary students and maintain order and safety on school grounds, common areas and classrooms during designated periods.

The role may assist with basic clerical, classroom or library tasks; completion of the 11th grade or equivalent and basic first aid are required. This is a unionized position with pay at CAD 27.59/hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.

Qualifications

Supervision Aide – Casual On Call (School Term)

THE ROLE

This is regulatory work in supervising the activities of elementary students entailing responsibility for maintaining order and safety on school grounds, in the school common areas and in classrooms during designated periods. In addition, and as time permits, employees of this class may provide assistance in general clerical, classroom, or library tasks of minimal complexity. Work performance is checked and reviewed by an administrator for effectiveness of provision of services rendered to staff and students and for adherence to detailed instructions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures in controlling and regulating behaviour of students.
  • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing general school operations.
  • Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain order and safety of students using behaviour management and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ability to perform simple clerical or library tasks and operate photocopying and laminating equipment.
  • Ability to administer basic first aid.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, staff and parents in supplying assistance and information.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 11th grade or equivalent, plus basic first aid. Minimum six months prior experience related to raising children or working with children.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $ 27. 59 /hour, plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
