Job summary

Primoris-Services-Corporation seeks a SAGD Superintendent to direct day-to-day field execution on site construction of above-ground lines, central processing facilities and well pads. You will supervise crews, coordinate across piping, structural, mechanical, civil and electrical scopes, and ensure execution aligns with schedule and budget.

You will lead safety initiatives, manage permits, lock-out/tag-out, and brownfield tie-ins with Operations.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson trade certification or a Bachelor's/ Diploma in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • 5–10 years as General Foreman or Superintendent on heavy industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Direct field execution for SAGD site construction across piping, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical & instrumentation scopes.
  • Lead toolbox talks and site safety meetings; oversee THA/JSA/OHA reviews.
  • Coordinate mobilization/demobilization, and brownfield tie-ins with Operations & client.
  • Develop area plan, risk controls, schedule look-ahead and daily debriefs.
  • Report progress, productivity variances and change with proper records.

Job Overview:SUMMARYThe SAGD Superintendent directs the day-to-day field execution of assigned areas and systems on SAGD site construction — Above ground piplines, Central processing facilities and well pads — supervising crews, equipment and transportation against the execution plan, schedule and budget set by the Construction Manager, in accordance with company and client policies, procedures, codes, goals and objectives. The SAGD Superintendent reports to the Construction Manager.JOB DUTIESSupport project start-up; confirm area readiness, crew mobilization and first-day access requirementsDevelop detailed Project Execution and Work Plans for assigned areas and systemsContribute assigned-area content to the project activity risk matrix and control the field hazards it identifiesAssist in development of Project schedule; execute the three week look-ahead in collaboration with the Project Manager and General ForemenExecute the mobilization and demobilization plan in the field; crew intake, camp and travel arrangements, and rotation coverage for assigned areasCoordinate and supervise field activity across piping, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical & instrumentation, insulation and coatings scopesProvide direction to subordinate personnel responsible for project execution; General Foremen, Foremen, trades personnel, as well as equipment and transportationLead the morning toolbox with assigned crews and participate in the weekly site safety meetingLead / Assist THA/JSA/OHA reviews with HSE Advisor and personnelAdminister client permitting, energy isolation and lock-out/tag-out requirements for work adjacent to live SAGD facilities; coordinate brownfield tie-in windows with OperationsDeliver the safety initiatives and HSE deliverables assigned to the areaCoordinate receipt, rigging and setting of fabricated modules, pipe spools and skids; verify dimensional control and resolve field fit issues with Field EngineeringLead the daily area debrief with crews, Foremen and subcontractor supervisionDevelop General Foremen and Foremen in the field; coach, assess and report their performance to the Construction ManagerMaintain day-to-day working relationships with client site Operations, subcontractor supervision and vendors on siteGenerate the daily area field report; actual labor, equipment and activities completed with a plan for next day including contingenciesReport earned quantities against Rules of Credit for assigned areas and identify productivity variances with causesPrepare and deliver the area shift report to the clientArticulate area progress, constraints and recovery actions to the Construction ManagerIdentify and document project change; field direction, scope growth and standby with supporting records, for review by the Construction ManagerIdentify means/methods for cost mitigation from the field while not compromising safety or qualityPerform HSE and Quality inspections / Audits in accordance with company manualSupport system walkdowns, punch listing, hydrotest and reinstatement, and turnover package completion with the Quality and Completions groupsOther duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONSJourneyperson trade certification, or a Bachelor's Degree / Technical Diploma in Construction Management or Engineering; equivalent work experience is acceptable5 – 10 years working experience in General Foreman or Superintendent roles on heavy industrial projectsDirect field experience on SAGD, oil sands or gas plant site construction, including brownfield work adjacent to operating facilitiesCSTS-20Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE)Legislative AwarenessFirst Aid w/AEDDefensive DrivingH2S AliveGround Disturbance Level IISKILLSWorking knowledge of typical costs, crew compositions and productivities associated with piping, structural, mechanical and civil activitiesAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangement and structural drawings, and to identify constructability and field fit issues before they affect the crewSound understanding of energy isolation, permitting and simultaneous operations requirements on a live SAGD facilityAbility to focus on details while analyzing and managing larger obstaclesAptitude for analyzing, comparing and interpreting detailed but sometimes poorly defined information, and making sound and accurate judgments based on that informationAssertiveness and self-assurance in presenting and supporting conclusions; strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to plan and sequence work to a three week look-ahead and hold the crew to it under changing field conditionsFamiliarity with Primavera P6 scheduling software and with earned value / Rules of Credit progress reportingAble to work under pressure, in remote camp-based settings and through Alberta winter construction conditionsProficient computer skills; Microsoft Office and electronic field reporting systems#LI-AK1
