Job summary

Axiom Builders is seeking a Superintendent who balances relationship-building with driving schedules on multi-family construction projects in Calgary, Alberta. You will lead field staff and trades, keep teams accountable, and deliver milestones while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing sub-trades, coordinating with Project Managers, and fostering a culture of reliability on site.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience as an assistant or superintendent for a general contractor on multi-family projects.
• Proven track record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion.
• Experience with infrastructure, roadworks or bridges is an asset.
• Ability to build relationships with field staff, clients and external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and motivate site crews of various sizes and scopes.
• Proven success in fostering a culture of positivity, ownership and reliability on site.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Manager and provide updates such as field reports, safety inspections, staffing requirements and schedule updates.
• Oversee subcontractor performance with respect to safety and scope of work.
• Ensure adequate staffing to meet safety, schedule and quality objectives.
• Identify design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure proper execution.
• Supervise and direct trades and labourers through regular instruction and feedback.
• Support CSO and head office to ensure adherence to safety policies.
• Communicate effectively with all departments and provide reports as requested.

The ideal Superintendent has experience with wood-frame and concrete construction, managing sub-trades effectively, a track record of safe and on-time projects and is someone that others follow to your next site.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with Head Office and communicate effectively with all departments and provides reports asrequested.

Skills & Experience

• At least five (5)+ years of experience as an assistant or superintendent for a general contractor on multi-family projects;
• Excellent record of leading a project from pre-construction tocompletion;
• Experience with infrastructure, roadworks or bridges will be considered anasset;
• Ability to build relationships with not only the field staff, but also clients and other externalstakeholders;
• Ability and proven experience to lead and motivate site crew of various sizesand scopes;
