Job summary

Axiom Builders in Vancouver is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field teams on wood frame, high-rise or low-rise projects. You will collaborate with the Project Manager, oversee safety, schedule, and quality, and ensure contracts and changes are properly executed.

The ideal candidate holds a Red Seal in Carpentry and has a proven track record from pre-construction to completion, building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors while fostering a positive on-site culture.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience as a Superintendent on multi-family, wood frame, high-rise or low-rise projects.
• Red Seal in Carpentry preferred; hands-on experience in residential construction is important.
• Proven record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion.
• Ability to build relationships with field staff, clients and external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and motivate a site crew of varying sizes and scopes.
• Proven success in fostering a culture of accountability and reliability on site.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Manager and communicate updates (field reports, safety inspections, staffing, schedule).
• Oversee subcontractor performance regarding safety and scope of work.
• Ensure staffing is adequate to meet safety, schedule and quality goals.
• Identify and advise on design deficiencies, schedule interruptions, or project issues.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, PO's, site instructions and change notices to ensure proper execution.
• Supervise and direct trades and labourers with clear instruction and feedback.
• Support CSO and head office in enforcing safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Project Manager and regularly communicate updates such as field reports, safety inspections, staffing requirements and schedule updates;
• Oversee subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work;
• Ensure sufficient staffing is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives;
• Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues;
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed;
• Supervise and direct trades and labourers through regular instruction, communication feedback;
• Support CSO and head office in ensuring all employees, subcontractors and contractors are adhering to the safety policies.

Skills & Requirements

• At least two (2) years of experience as a Superintendent for a general contractor with a project list that includes multiple wood frame, high-rise or low-rise projects;
• Red Seal in Carpentry or similar is preferred - experience being hands-on for multi-family residential construction is important;
• Excellent record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion;
• Ability to build relationships with not only the field staff, but also clients and other external stakeholders;
• Ability and proven experience to lead and motivate site crew of various sizes and scopes;
• Proven success in influencing a culture of positivity, ownership and reliability on site.
