Job summary

Axiom Builders is seeking a passionate, relationship-focused Superintendent to lead a wood-frame multi-family project in Calgary. The ideal candidate will manage sub-trades, ensure safety and on-time delivery, and drive a culture of ownership on site.

With 5+ years in similar roles, you’ll build strong relationships with clients, field staff, and external partners, while coordinating with head office to maintain schedules and quality on a high-profile inner-city project.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as assistant or superintendent on wood-frame multi-family projects.
• Proven track record from pre-construction to completion.
• Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Project Manager and provide regular field reports, safety inspections and schedule updates.
• Oversee subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work.
• Ensure sufficient staffing to meet safety, schedule and quality objectives.
• Identify and advise on design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure proper execution.
• Supervise and direct trades and labourers through regular instruction and feedback.
• Support CSO and head office in ensuring safety policies are followed by all employees and subcontractors.
• Communicate effectively with all departments and provide reports as requested.

YOUR NEW OPPORTUNITY

Axiom Builders is looking for a passionate, relationship-focused and experienced Superintendent to lead the construction of a multi-family wood-frame project in the inner city of Calgary. The ideal Superintendent has experience with wood-frame construction, managing sub-trades effectively, a track record of safe and on-time projects and is someone that others follow to your next site.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Project Manager and regularly communicate updates such as field reports, safety inspections, staffing requirements and schedule updates;
• Oversee subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work;
• Ensure sufficient staffing is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives;
• Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues;
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed;
• Supervise and direct trades and labourers through regular instruction, communication feedback;
• Support CSO and head office in ensuring all employees, subcontractors and contractors are adhering to the safety policies;
• Work in partnership with Head Office and communicate effectively with all departments and provides reports as requested.

Skills & Experience

• At least five (5)+ years of experience as an assistant or superintendent for a general contractor on wood-frame multi-family projects;
• Excellent record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion;
• Experience with infrastructure, roadworks or bridges will be considered an asset;
• Ability to build relationships with not only the field staff, but also clients and other external stakeholders;
• Ability and proven experience to lead and motivate site crew of various sizes and scopes;
• Proven success in influencing a culture of positivity, ownership and reliability on site.

The base salary (hourly wage) range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000, adjusted for experience, plus a competitive bonus program. During the interview process, let’s talk to get the right fit for your experience level.
