Job summary

Ovintiv Canada ULC invites motivated students to join its summer internship in Safety. You will work with an experienced mentor and contribute to field safety programs across upstream oil and gas operations.

Eligible candidates must be enrolled full-time through December 2027, reside in Grande Prairie, AB or Dawson Creek, BC, and be willing to travel Western Canada. A valid Class 5 license is required, with staging for May 3 to Aug 19, 2027.

Qualifications

• Must reside or be willing to reside in Grande Prairie, AB, or Dawson Creek, BC.
• Travel in Western Canada is required.
• Pursuing a diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental health and safety (EHS), occupational health, or a closely related health and safety discipline.
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2027.
• Available May 3, 2027 – August 19, 2027.
• This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the Ovintiv Alcohol and Drug policy which includes pre-assignment testing.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting field safety programs, education, and awareness initiatives
• Participating in field inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities
• Assisting with risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
• Supporting industrial hygiene and occupational health activities
• Analyzing process safety data to identify trends and leading indicators
• Assisting with safety management system improvements, regulatory compliance initiatives, and the implementation of new safety technologies

Education

Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
