Job summary

Farming Smarter seeks a Summer Communications Intern for 2027 to gain hands-on experience in agricultural communications, marketing, and events. You will craft content, support digital channels, and promote research outcomes to producers and industry stakeholders.

You'll develop skills in storytelling, social media, graphics, photography, videography, and audience engagement while working alongside researchers and farmers throughout Western Canada.

Qualifications

• Enrolment in, or completion of, a post-secondary program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Multimedia, Agriculture Communications, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
• Interest in storytelling, audience engagement, and digital media.

Responsibilities

• Content Creation & Storytelling: write articles, newsletters, and website content; create engaging social media posts.
• Digital Communications: assist with website updates; monitor social channels and report on performance.
• Event Promotion & Support: help promote field schools, tours, workshops, and webinars; assist with materials and coordination.
• Stakeholder Engagement: communicate with farmers, partners, sponsors, and government stakeholders; maintain contact databases.
