Job summary

Red Mountain Resort seeks a Summer Camp Counsellor to create a safe, fun environment for children in the Summer Adventure Camp. Counsellors lead outdoor activities that build confidence, teamwork, and a love of the outdoors while ensuring campers' safety and well-being.

You will supervise campers, guide hiking, nature exploration, outdoor games, crafts, and team-building exercises; adapt activities to age and ability, and follow all safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrain.

Responsibilities

• Supervise campers at all times and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
• Lead and assist with daily camp activities, including hiking, nature exploration, outdoor games, crafts, team-building activities, chairlift rides, and environmental education.
• Adapt activities to meet the age, ability, and needs of campers.
• Follow all RED Mountain Resort safety policies, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols.
• Conduct head counts, manage group transitions, and ensure safe loading and unloading during chairlift rides.
• Communicate professionally with parents, campers, and fellow staff.
• Complete attendance, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Assist with the setup, care, and storage of camp equipment and supplies.
• Represent RED Mountain Resort with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to hike on uneven terrain and participate in active outdoor programming.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Comfortable spending the full day outdoors in varying weather conditions.
