Job summary

AMD in Calgary seeks a Software Engineering intern/co-op to join our team and contribute to developing software applications alongside experienced engineers.

You will be in a full-time role (37.5 hours/week) with hybrid or onsite work structures for the duration of the co-op/intern term, typically 12 or 16 months. This program offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced AI/compute environment.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Canada-based university in a Bachelor’s degree program (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, CS or related).
  • Shows knowledge of software engineering concepts, principles and theories.
  • Familiar with C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Linux shell, Perl, Java, JavaScript, UML).
  • Proficient with UNIX/Linux OS and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and web frameworks (Django, Rails, Spring Boot).
  • Knowledge of HTML, XML; basic API and security concepts (OAuth, SSL/TLS).
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, and Perforce; interest in embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers to build and maintain applications.
  • Receive training across the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
  • Create scripts to automate portions of the development process.
  • Learn debugging methodologies and root-cause analysis for issues.
  • Possibly contribute to technical/functional documents and reports as needed.

JOB DETAILS:

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time 37.5 hrs a week, either in a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.

Duration:

  • 12 Months: May 03, 2027 to April 21, 2028
  • 16 Months: May 03, 2027 to August 18, 2028
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

We areseekinghighlymotivated Software Engineering intern/co-op to join our team at AMD. In this role –

We will assign you responsibilities in which you will work closely with our software engineers to build andmaintainour software applications

  • We willprovidetraining onthe full software creation process, from design and built to testing and deployment
  • We will encourage you to build scripts that automate some of our software development process
  • We will help you learn debugging methodologies to investigate the root cause of software issues
  • In certain projects we may have your involvement in crafting technical/functional documents and reports asneeded
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • You are currently enrolled in a Canada based University into a Bachelors degree program majoring inComputer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, ComputerScienceor related discipline
  • If you haveknowledge /experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply–
