Job summary

AMD is offering a software engineering internship/co-op in Vancouver, BC. The role focuses on contributing to AI/processor software development, with training across the full software lifecycle.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Canadian university for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, with knowledge of C/C++ and scripting

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Canadian-based Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of software engineering concepts and theory.
  • Experience with C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Java, JavaScript, UML).
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux OS, databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and cloud platforms (Azure).
  • Exposure to web frameworks (Django, Rails, Spring Boot) and basic markup languages (HTML, XML, XSL).
  • Understanding of version control (Git, GitHub, Perforce) and debugging processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with AMD software engineers to design, develop, and maintain software applications.
  • Receive training across the full software development lifecycle from design to testing and deployment.
  • Develop scripts to automate parts of the development workflow and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in debugging and root-cause analysis of software issues; contribute to technical documentation as needed.

JOB DETAILS:

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time 37.5 hrs a week, either in a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.

Winter Duration:
  • 4 Months: January 11, 2027 to April 23, 2027
  • 8 Months: January 11, 2027 to August 20, 2027
Summer Duration:
  • 4 Months: May 3, 2027 to August 20, 2027
  • 8 Months: May 3, 2027 to December 10, 2027
Fall Duration:
  • 4 Months: September 13, 2027 to December 10, 2027
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

We areseekinghighlymotivated Software Engineering intern/co-op to join our team at AMD. In this role –

We will assign you responsibilities in which you will work closely with our software engineers to build andmaintainour software applications

  • We willprovidetraining onthe full software creation process, from design and built to testing and deployment
  • We will encourage you to build scripts that automate some of our software development process
  • We will help you learn debugging methodologies to investigate the root cause of software issues
  • In certain projects we may have your involvement in crafting technical/functional documents and reports asneeded
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • You are currently enrolled in a Canada based University into a Bachelors degree program majoring inComputer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, ComputerScienceor related discipline
  • If you haveknowledge /experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply–
