Job summary

Rocky View Schools (RVS) is recruiting Substitute Teachers for the 2026‑2027 school year. Substitutes teach on an as‑needed basis at any RVS school and must be available for the full school year, with transportation and reliable access to phone/internet.

Applicants must have an Alberta Teaching Certificate, a valid TQS document, and provide a professional reference letter from a recent supervisor on letterhead. A Criminal Record check is required within 30 days of start.

Qualifications

  • Current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check required within 30 days of start.
  • Professional letter of reference from most recent supervisor on company letterhead.
  • New/Recent Graduates: final practicum report accepted in lieu of a reference letter.
  • Must provide Alberta Teaching Certificate and TQS documentation.

Substitute Teachers - 2026-2027 School Year

Opportunity

RVS invites applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.

Substitute teachers are called to substitute teach on an as‑needed basis at any of our schools. You must be available to work throughout the 2026-2027 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation.

No interview is required to be added to the substitute teacher list. A positive reference letter received will be the approval to be placed on the substitute teacher list. Please ensure a professional letter of reference is attached to your job application, from your most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months.

  • Ability to quickly engage students in their learning while ensuring a classroom climate of respect and safety
Substitute Teacher Expectations
  • There is no minimum day availability required to be a substitute teacher with RVS
  • There is no minimum geographical area selection required

Substitute Teachers are now eligible to access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost.

Pre‑employment Requirements
  • The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment.

New/Recent Graduates Only: In lieu of a reference letter please submit your final practicum report.
