Job summary

Rocky View Schools is seeking a Learning Specialist (Grade 7-9) for the Education Centre in Airdrie. This full-time 1.0 FTE position commences August 27, 2026 and runs through June 30, 2027, under the direction of the Director of Education Services.

Reliability to travel between RVS sites is required. The successful candidate will support literacy and numeracy interventions, implement the Literacy and Numeracy Framework, assist with EAL learners, and contribute to inclusive instruction and

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years recent classroom experience.
• Experience working with Grade 7–9 in inclusive education settings.
• Familiarity with Rocky View Schools Practice Guides, Board Strategic Plan, and Divisional Education Plan.

Responsibilities

• Support leaders and teachers in targeted literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Assist with implementing the RVS Literacy and Numeracy Framework.
• Support teachers with EAL learners.
• Collaborate to design inclusive instruction and assessment practices including social-emotional learning and academics.
• Assist schools with curriculum implementation.
• Commit to Indigenizing and decolonizing practices.
• Analyze and use data to inform practice and plan instruction.
• Plan and lead professional learning sessions for staff, including in-school coaching and mentoring.
• Select and create inclusive, culturally responsive resources reflecting diversity.

The Opportunity

Rocky View Schools invites applications for afull-time (1.0 FTE) Learning Specialist(Grade 7-9) in the Learning Services team at the Education Centre in Airdrie commencing August 27, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

This position will be under the direction of the Director of Education Services.

The successful candidate must have access to reliable transportation as this position requires travel between RVS sites.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a team to help support leaders and teachers in targeted literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Supporting the implementation of the RVS Literacy and Numeracy Framework
• Supporting teachers with EAL learners
• Collaborate as part of a team to help support leaders and teachers to design and implement inclusive instruction and assessment practices including social emotional learning and academics
• Support schools with curriculum implementation
• Commitment to understand Indigenizing and decolonizing practices
• Support schools with analyzing and using data to inform practice and plan for instruction
• Plan and lead professional learning sessions for staff as required. This may include working extensively in schools through small group professional learning, working elbow to elbow with teachers, co‑teaching, modelling, coaching and mentoring
• Support staff in identifying, selecting, and creating high quality, inclusive, culturally responsive resources which accurately reflect and demonstrate strengths, diversity, and worldviews

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

• Ability to work across Grade 7 through Grade 9 learning environments
• Ability to proficiently use a variety of technology platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven assessment practices aligned with AP 360

The successful candidate must:

• Have a minimum 5 years recent classroom experience
• Be comfortable working with staff and students from Grade 7 to Grade 9 in inclusive education settings
• Be familiar with Rocky View Schools Practice Guides, Board Strategic Plan, and Divisional Education Plan
• Collaborate with other Learning Specialists to support staff in creating accessible, engaging and authentic learning opportunities for students
• Have experience leading a learning community influencing growth of practice
• Have an understanding of the policies and procedures that guide teaching and learning (Provincial and jurisdictional)
