Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. As a substitute teacher, you will assume full classroom responsibilities in the absence of the homeroom or subject teacher, deliver pre-planned lessons, and help maintain a respectful, inclusive

• Certified Alberta teacher or eligible for certification.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to deliver pre-planned lessons across grades and subjects.
• Flexibility to respond to changing assignments with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Take full classroom responsibility in the absence of the teacher.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure continuity of student learning.
• Provide academic support and supervise students.
• Collaborate with teachers, administration and students.
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.
• Uphold confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Follow school policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume full classroom responsibilities in the absence of the homeroom or subject teacher
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure continuity of student learning
• Provide academic support and effective classroom supervision throughout the school day
• Communicate and collaborate with teachers, administration, and students
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and productive classroom environment
• Uphold confidentiality of student and staff information
• Follow and support all school policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification)
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively deliver pre-planned lessons across grade levels and subject areas
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond positively to changing assignments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment
• Respect for Islamic faith and culture, and willingness to support a faith-based school environment
