Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking a creative Studio Planter Designer & Builder for West Coast Gardens in Surrey.

You will assemble indoor and outdoor planters, build tropical and seasonal configurations, and ensure colour balance and quality across displays and wholesale programs. You should be experienced with annuals, perennials, and tropical plants, able to follow planting specifications, and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on greenhouse setting.

Qualifications

• Strong eye for plant combinations and container design.
• Follow planting specifications while maintaining visual quality.

Job description

Location: South Surrey – West Coast Gardens

Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm | 30–40 hoursper week

Pay: $18-20/hr

Duration: March–June (possibility to continue into summer season)

About the Role:

West Coast Gardens is looking for a creative and hands-on Studio Planter Designer & Builder to join our team. If you have a passion for annuals, tropicals, and perennials, enjoy working with plants, and have a strong eye for colour, texture, and plant combinations, this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble indoor and outdoor planters using provided planting specifications
• Build tropical planters and seasonal combinations in bulk quantities
• Maintain a high standard for colour balance, plant selection, and overall presentation
• Produce planters used in retail displays, e-newsletters, and wholesale programs
• Monitor plant health and ensure plants are properly cared for
• Keep the Studio workspace clean, organized, and well stocked
• Work with the retail and décor teams to ensure displays remain fresh and visually compelling

Qualifications:

• Experience with annuals, perennials, and tropical plants
• A strong artistic eye for plant combinations and container design
• Ability to follow planting specifications while maintaining visual quality
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with a team
• Able to work in greenhouse environment, (high humidity and temperatures)
• Reliable transportation is recommended as the location is not accessible by bus.
