Job summary

Bird Construction is offering an 8‑month Co‑op position based in Mississauga, ON, starting September 2026. As a Student Technical Analyst you will support IT operations under guidance from a Supervisor and Technical Mentor.

You will gain hands‑on experience with end‑user device troubleshooting, service requests, knowledge management, and inventory control while collaborating with a large team and developing professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program.
  • Will complete at least one more semester after the internship with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Residency or valid work permit to work for Bird Construction or subsidiaries.
  • Current transcript must be included with the application.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to moderately complex level one troubleshooting for end-user devices.
  • Install and troubleshoot end-user printers and devices to meet service levels.
  • Fulfill service requests including network drive access, account management, and software requests.
  • Document processes and maintain Knowledge Base articles to aid knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with a large team, assist peers, and suggest process improvements.

Student Technical Analyst

Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment. We are seeking a student to join us for an 8 month co‑op position starting in September 2026. This position will be based out of Mississauga, ON.

What You Will Be Working On
End-user Troubleshooting and Repair
  • Perform basic and moderately complex level one troubleshooting and repair activities for end-user devices such as desktops, laptops, mobile devices, desk phones, and printers.
  • Install and troubleshoot end-user printers, ensuring that devices are properly functioning and meeting established customer service satisfaction levels.
Service Request Fulfillment
  • Fulfill service requests from end-users, including tasks such as granting network drive access, administration of distribution lists, creation/modification/disabling of accounts, and fulfilling software requests.
  • Ensure that service requests are completed in a timely manner and according to established guidelines.
Documentation and Knowledge Management
  • Document processes, procedures, and Knowledge Base articles to maintain a repository of technical documentation and knowledge resources.
  • This includes capturing troubleshooting steps, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing among team members and improve operational processes.
Team Collaboration and Support
  • Work in a large team environment, supporting and assisting peers.
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel as needed.
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements to procedures based on experience and feedback from end-users.
  • Participate in the evaluation/implementation of ITIL best-practice operational processes to continuously improve service delivery.
Inventory Management
  • Maintain an inventory of installed hardware and software, ensuring accurate tracking of assets and software licenses for compliance and inventory management purposes.
Work Hours and On-call Support
  • Work primarily during established work hours between 6:00 AM CT and 6:00 PM CT. Be prepared for the possibility of rotating after-hours on‑call support to address urgent issues outside of regular work hours.

  • You are currently enrolled in Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or equivalent program.
  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This job's wages range from $24-$28 per hour based on experience and academics.
