Job summary

Brock University is seeking a Student Talent Coach to support co‑op students with job search and work-term success through coaching and engagement strategies. You will leverage knowledge of over 40 co‑op programs and labour market trends to guide students toward realistic goals.

You will collaborate with the Talent Development Specialist teams to understand talent profiles, track progress, and coordinate events. A hybrid work schedule is available.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (HR, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or Education).
• Experience with co-op/internship programs, sales and marketing, human resources, and/or recruiting, preferably in education.
• Knowledge of Brock co-op programs, recruitment, and hiring cycle.
• Solid computer competency including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, web applications, social media, and internet search engines.
• Advanced communications skills (verbal, written, interpersonal), including public speaking, and ability to persuade.
• Ability to work with diverse groups, advising, coaching, and strategizing career planning objectives.
• Ability to coach, mentor, persuade, and motivate students with strong social and emotional intelligence.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to leverage resources to solve problems.
• Proven ability to organize and handle multiple projects, deadlines, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Engage and motivate co-op students in job search and on‑job performance to meet employment targets.
• Coach students on skill development using labour market trends and curriculum knowledge.
• Conduct reflection and labour market analysis to set realistic goals for skill growth.
• Assess needs, provide solutions, and track progress for students.
• Collaborate with Talent Development and Talent Partnerships teams on feedback and improvements.
• Support students facing difficulties in the job search or on‑the‑job performance with action plans.
• Coordinate with Faculty to keep students engaged during the co‑op process.
• Maintain a student information database for qualitative and quantitative.skill development.
• Represent and support activities outside regular hours for events.
• Travel to locations not accessible by public transit as needed.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Student Talent Coaching and Engagement, the Student Talent Coach is responsible for supporting co-op students job search and work-term success through executive-style coaching, persuasion and engagement strategies and advocating for students to the industry. The S tudent Talent Coach will share their expertise with co-op students throughout their program by having a thorough understanding of the academic curriculum of over 40 co-op programs, and an extensive working knowledge of labour market trends and skills required by the industry.

The Student Talent Coach will:

• Engage and motivate co-op students effectively through their co-op job search and on job performance that will meet our student co-op employment rate and work term success rate;
• Effectively coach students with their skill development by applying thorough understanding of labour market trends and academic curriculum;
• Conduct critical reflection and labour market analysis to help students establish realistic expectations of their goals for skill development;
• Continuously assess students' needs, provide solutions, and track progress;
• Collaborate with the Talent Development Specialist and Talent Partnerships Consultant teams to understand talent profiles, provide feedback, and identify improvements;
• Support students encountering difficulties with job search process and/or on job performance by establishing and implementing an action plan;
• Collaborate with Faculty to keep co-op students engaged through the co-op job search process;
• Maintain the student information database for qualitative and quantitative information on students' skill development and engagement level;
• Participate, represent, and support work-related activities that require attendance outside of normal working hours for events , including but not limited to: Ontario Universities Fair - Toronto; Spring Open House - on campus; Fall Open House - on campus; Faculty Events.

Key Skills and Experience:

• An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or Education ;
• Relevant experience with co-op/internship programs, sales and marketing, human resources, and/or recruiting, preferably in an educational setting;
• Knowledge of all Brock co-op programs, recruitment, human resources, talent acquisition, on campus recruitment and the hiring cycle;
• Knowledge of industry trends and labour market demand for all co-op programs;
• Solid computer competency including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, web applications, social media, and internet search engines;
• Advanced communications skills (verbal, written and interpersonal), including professional public speaking, and a keen ability to "sell ";
• Ability to work with diverse groups, advising, coaching, and strategizing career planning objectives ;
• Ability to coach, mentor, persuade, and motivate students with strong social and emotional intelligence;
• Strong critical thinking with the ability to leverage existing resources to solve problems ;
• and
• Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines, and schedules simultaneously and independently .

Preferred or Asset Skills:

• Valid G-class D river's L icense;
• Completion of Career Development Practitioner (CDP) Certificate.

Salary and Total Rewards:

Job Grade: L; Salary Scale: ($67,721- $108,353)

Target Hiring Range: $66,817 - $68,000*
