SCOPE OF WORK: Provides technical and administrative support within the office of academic advising with responsibility for assisting with the transition of newly admitted students to enrollment in academic programs (e.g. information on course pre-requisites, schedules, placement process and results, accommodations and supports available to students. Collects, maintains, and provides information, data, calendars, and reports. May provide specialized support to select student populations including non-matriculated and technical, may schedule and proctor TEAS testing as needed. This position reports to the Director of Academic Advising at Manchester Community College
Accountabilities
- Works to ensure that newly admitted students have a smooth onboarding process from acceptance through enrollment, and completion of payment, placement, and other necessary processes.
- Assist with student registration campaigns, student life events, new student orientation, career and transfer events, and various student support initiatives.
- Supports the operational side of on boarding including placement, transfer, change of major, and first semester course registration.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with Admissions, Advising, and Department Chairs and Program Coordinators to identify and provide targeted support for students.
- Informs students of and makes referrals to academic support and other available resources on campus; works with the Advising and Library to provide tutoring and other services for students with academic concerns.
- Assists students in meeting their academic goals by providing one-one coaching, helping them better utilize college resources such as academic technology (Navigate, SIS, Canvas, Zoom, etc.), student life and holistic services (food pantry, student assistance program, etc.).
- Maintains open and frequent communication with students through text, phone, email, meetings, etc.
- Creates and facilitates workshops that promote student success such as study skills, trainings for zoom, CANVAS, Navigate, and other programs.
- Participates in professional development activities and serves on college or CCSNH committees and teams.
- Complies with all system, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in counseling, education, liberal arts, general studies, or a related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in academic/career advising, admissions, teaching, tutoring, library services, and/or student support within an educational setting. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
OR
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in counseling, education, liberal arts, general studies, or a related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in academic/career advising, admissions, teaching, tutoring, library services, and/or student support within an educational setting. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License or access to transportation required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom, Word Press, Adobe, and email marketing software. Experience in a higher education environment.
