Job summary

Sun Life is seeking a cybersecurity student intern to support security operations and incident management. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure production systems remain secure and compliant, handling tickets and improving processes.

Qualifications

  • Requires Reliability Status Clearance, including a law enforcement inquiry and credit check.
  • Must account for all activities if lived or travelled outside Canada for 6 consecutive months during the last 5 years.
  • Currently enrolled in a university degree or college diploma program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Prior cybersecurity or the IT industry experience.
  • Professional IT security designation (CISM, CISSP, or CISA) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with NIST and MITRE frameworks and security tools/services.
  • Financial industry experience preferred.
  • Graduation date of April 2027 or later.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to meet client expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver expected outcomes.
  • Time management, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork abilities.
  • Expertise in security toolsets and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support operational services aligned with security technology.
  • Participate in Sun Life Cyber Security program and process improvements.
  • Work with security teams to ensure production operations run smoothly.
  • Manage tickets and problem management, including intake, triage, resolution, or escalation.
  • Manage security tools and contribute to projects and new technology in production.
  • Ensure Cyber Security capabilities operate effectively.
  • Document and maintain playbooks, policies, and knowledge base articles.
  • Provide technical expertise as a subject matter expert in security technologies.
  • Collaborate with security platform, operations, and investigation teams.
  • Communicate operational issues, status updates, and escalations.
  • Verify controls protecting the organization against cybersecurity risks.
  • Continuously improve internal processes.

Job description

  • Support operational services aligned with security technology supporting Sun Life’s Information Security program
  • Participate in support of the Sun Life Cyber Security program and continuous process improvements
  • Work with security teams to ensure security portfolio operations run smoothly and efficiently in production
  • Manage tickets and problem management, including ticket intake, triage, resolution, or escalation
  • Manage security tools and contribute to projects and acceptance of new technology into production
  • Ensure Cyber Security capabilities and protection mechanisms operate effectively
  • Transition and operationalize projects by developing RACI documents and educating teams taking over day-to-day work
  • Document, update, and maintain cyber security playbooks, policies, and knowledge base articles supporting Incident Management and CSIRT processes
  • Provide technical expertise as a subject matter expert in security technologies
  • Collaborate with security platform, operations, and investigation teams
  • Communicate operational issues, status updates, and escalations
  • Verify controls protecting the organization against cybersecurity risks
  • Continuously improve internal processes
Requirements
