Job summary

The City of Fredericton is hiring a Student – Parks & Trees for a temporary Fall position. You will help maintain sports fields, parks, green spaces, and trails while gaining hands-on experience in an outdoor setting. This role offers meaningful community impact and supports municipal services.

Candidates must be enrolled in post-secondary and hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license. This is an on-site, seasonal opportunity in Fredericton, NB, focusing on teamwork and safety in outdoor work

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (class 5) required.
• Must be enrolled in post-secondary.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Strenuous outdoor labour.
• Bed preparation, planting, edging, weeding, pruning, & trimming.
• Operate zero‑turn mowers, 1 ton trucks, trailers, small equipment and power tools.
• Preparations and maintenance of all sports fields.
• Special events asset deployment.
• Trail and Playground maintenance.
• Responds cool and calm in the face of stresses and pressures.
• Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative, and professional working relationships with your team and community at all times.
• Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
• Other duties as required.
