The Town of Caledon is seeking Parks Maintenance TFTs to support the upkeep of public parks, recreational areas and green spaces. You will perform landscaping tasks, assist with facilities upkeep, and deliver friendly service to park visitors.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, are comfortable with physical outdoor work, can operate lawnmowers and trimmers, and work well in a team while following safety guidelines.

Qualificações

• High school diploma required; Landscape Technician education an asset.
• Experience in outdoor recreation, landscaping or park maintenance preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic park equipment and follow safety guidelines.

Responsabilidades

The Opportunity (3 Vacancies)

Reporting directly to the Parks Supervisor, this temporary role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty of public parks, recreational areas, and green spaces. You will assist in landscaping maintenance, facility upkeep, and providing excellent customer service to park visitors. You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of park facilities. As the Parks Maintenance (TFT), you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

• Overseeing and carrying out park maintenance operations, including grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance, and plant watering.
• Assisting with the upkeep and minor repairs of park facilities such as restrooms, benches, picnic areas, and playgrounds.
• Regularly patrolling park areas to identify maintenance needs and reporting incidents of vandalism or safety concerns.
• Maintaining park infrastructure such as walking trails, bike paths, and other facilities.
• Operating and maintaining basic park maintenance equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and hand tools.
• Assisting with the physical setup and cleanup of special events.
• Providing information and ensuring a positive experience for park visitors.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable professional with a high school diploma; post-secondary education in Landscape Technician or a related field is an asset. Our ideal candidate has experience in outdoor recreation, landscaping, or park maintenance and is proficient in operating and maintaining basic park equipment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to perform physical labor tasks, adhere to safety guidelines, and work well within a team environment. We are seeking an individual with superior communication skills, a demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, and excellent problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate for Parks Maintenance (TFT) will be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending on the park’s needs and event schedules.

This position offers a salary of $28.09 per hour based on a 40-hour work week.
