Job summary

Canadian Bar Association in Ottawa is seeking a Student Legal Research Assistant for a temporary contract from September 28 to December 21, 2026. You will collect, clean and analyze member data and support governance and communications through research and reporting.

You will work under the Senior Manager, Membership Services, performing data-driven analysis, preparing briefs, and assisting with various administrative tasks to support the membership team.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an existing post-secondary institution in a related field or a new graduate from a legal curriculum.

Responsibilities

Student Legal Research Assistant – Member Services (Contract Role September 28 - December 21, 2026)

The Member Services team is looking for a student legal research assistant to perform data analysis and research related to the membership services in the legal profession, and various administrative and clerical tasks to support our offices. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Membership Services, the incumbent will undertake a variety of activities in the office ranging from researching member profiles to basic database clean-up tasks, and inbox monitoring. The incumbent must be reliable and familiar with office equipment and procedures. This is a contract summer student position from September 28 - December 21, 2026.

The CBA delivers services in both of Canada’s official languages. Fluent bilingual skills, both written and oral, are considered an asset.

$20.82 per hour
