Job summary

AtkinsRéalis invites applications for a Student Engineering Intern to assist senior engineering staff in delivering nuclear project outputs in Canada. The role is based in Mississauga or Pickering, ON, and requires security clearance for facilities, with citizenship as an advantage.

You will participate in data collection, KPI updates, meeting coordination and documentation, while learning QA practices and project administration under supervision. Duration options range from 4 to 16 months.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university in engineering or technology (preferred fields listed).
• Experience supporting various project types such as construction, manufacturing or engineering services is an asset.
• Appreciation of Quality Assurance programs and their significance to the nuclear industry is an asset.
• Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Progression within a recognized course of study – preference for engineering/engineering technology students.
• Commitment to Safety, Problem Solving, Integrity and Trust.

Responsibilities

Overview

Student Engineering Intern AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology. The position of Student Engineering Intern will be a junior contributing role to assist Technical Directors, Technical Managers or Senior Technical Leads in the execution of new-nuclear project deliverables. The successful candidate will join a mature team of project and engineering personnel and will be assigned tasks in the areas of engineering, engineering administration and/or project administration. This role will be based in Mississauga or Pickering, ON.

Your Role

The employee will be required to obtain security clearance for CANDU Energy Inc. facilities. This activity typically requires extended time for someone who is not a citizen of Canada, so Canadian citizenship is an advantage.

• The employee will be expected to perform tasks and activities commensurate with their level of experience and familiarity with the technology, while supervised by more senior engineering (and EIT) staff.
• Organizing, hosting, minuting regular meetings for senior staff.
• Collecting data and status for the purpose of regular schedule updates.
• Updating project Key Performance Indexes.
• Maintaining a running log of project lessons learned.
• Minor document revisions, including learning to navigate the various administrative systems (e.g. Proact and Mytrak ).
• Performing any other administrative or analytical review or investigation as directed.
• Self-study of the requisite quality procedures required to perform typical engineering and/or project administration tasks.

About You

• Duration: 4, 8, 12 or 16 months depending on candidates' availability.
• Currently enrolled in a college or University in the field of Engineering and/or Technology (with preference of Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Civil, Engineering Physics, Applied Math, Applied Physics or Nuclear Engineering).
• Experience supporting various type of projects including construction, manufacturing or engineering services projects considered an asset.
• An appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Progression within a recognized course of college or university study – preference will be given to engineering and/or engineering technology students.
