Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking an Engineer/Analyst for Retube Installation Tooling to support refurbishment projects. The role covers conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems, reporting to the Manager of Retube Installation Tooling.

You will develop engineering skills under supervision, collaborate with senior engineers and vendors, ensure QA compliance, plan and manage work with cost/schedule constraints, and travel to project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering (Mechanical).
  • Eligible for Professional Engineering designation (PEO).
  • Nuclear facility experience is an asset.
  • Co-op/internship experience is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee conceptual and detailed design of tooling systems.
  • Support testing, manufacturing, and delivery phases.
  • Review vendor documentation and resolve design issues.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage own time; mentor junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering and QA procedures.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Job description

Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Retube Installation Tooling, the Engineer/Analyst-Retube Installation Tooling would support multiple Refurbishment projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems.

Your role
  • Perform assignments, under close supervision of an engineer in an upper grade of lesser complexity.
  • Develop work knowledge and capabilities in a field of engineering methods and standard Company practices.
  • Assignments normally include system and equipment design and development, design modification, investigation of design difficulties, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, cost estimating and preparation of reports, review of vendor's documentation, investigation of manufacturing and installation difficulties.
  • Support tooling testing and various vendor facilities under the supervision of the senor engineers.
  • Ensures that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Work is reviewed and checked in progress and upon completion.
  • Perform checking of work of support staff on an as needed basis.
  • Perform as an active mentee to develop engineering design skills under the mentorship of a senior engineer.
  • Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
  • Be an active team player.
  • May be assigned project engineering/coordinator responsibilities on a technical or commercial endeavour of moderate scope.
  • Work is limited in scope and generally related to one field or discipline of engineering, although a knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas may be required.
  • Completed work is generally accepted as technically accurate and in compliance with policies and procedures and is reviewed for soundness of judgement and feasibility.
  • Work objectives are specific, and supervision is usually general; the details of the work are not normally closely supervised but this may vary with the assignment.
  • Normally required to plan, schedule and manage own time, including taking into account the plans of others.
About you
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical).
  • Eligible for Professional Engineering designation from PEO.
  • Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada would be an asset.
  • Coop/Internship experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet project needs.
