Qualifications

  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

Job description

Overview

AtkinsRealis is currently looking for Junior Mechanical Engineering Analysts to join our engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario. Reporting to the Reactor Maintenance Technical manager, the Junior Mechanical Engineering Analyst would support the various Field Services projects in the Candu Field Services department.

The employee will be required to obtain security clearance for Candu Energy Inc. facilities and our customer sites. This activity typically requires extended time for someone who is not a citizen of Canada, so Canadian citizenship is an advantage.

The employee may be assigned to short-term field service assignments on Candu Field Services projects, typically during customers' outages and at their sites. During these assignments, the employee may be requested to perform work in a radiological work environment such as set-up and operation activities of certain tooling. In this event, the employee will be required to be a Nuclear Energy Worker qualified and trained to CANDU Energy's RP program as "Group 3" worker and with our customer's'onboarding process, as well as receiving practical training related to the project. Physical fitness and hands-on experience with tools and equipment will be an advantage.

The employee will be expected to perform tasks and activities commensurate with their level of experience and familiarity with the technology, while supervised by more senior engineering (and EIT) staff.

Your role
  • Under direct supervision, perform conceptual and detail design engineering work on mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Under direct supervision, prepare design documentation such as design requirements, design descriptions, design specifications, technical specifications, component specifications, test procedures and plans, commissioning procedures, flow sheets, detail drawings, general arrangements, and equipment layouts.
  • Perform activities related to machine design and controls, and in support of manufacturing, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and process controls systems.
  • Participate in technical, conceptual and detail design meetings in front of peers, clients and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with technical guidance to drafting staff.
  • Provide engineering support to quality surveillance, manufacturing, assembly and testing with non-conformances.
  • Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, client and company procedures.
  • Provide consultation and/or review and approval of engineering quotation request packages and purchase requisitions.
  • Performing any other administrative or analytical review or investigation as directed.
  • Self-study of the requisite quality procedures required to perform typical engineering and/or project administration tasks.
  • Travel to project sites, both domestic and international, to support various Candu Field Services projects.
About you
  • Progression within a recognized course of college or university study – preference will be given to engineering and/or engineering technology students.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited university.
  • Eligible to be registered, as Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Experience supporting various type of projects including construction, manufacturing or engineering services projects considered an asset.
  • CAD experience in Solid Edge or Solid Works is an asset.
  • An appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry considered an asset.
