Job summary

McGill University is seeking a Student Affairs Manager to provide stable, effective support for clinical education programs, supervise student affairs staff, and contribute to administration tools and accreditation readiness.

The role involves governance participation, collaboration with program directors, staff supervision, recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing process improvement in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment. Bilingual English/French communication is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required with 3+ years related experience.
  • Experience supervising staff including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities; collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and process-improvement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend relevant educational governance meetings (e.g., FPGEC).
  • Foster relationships with Program/Course Directors to ensure smooth operations for PGME/UGME.
  • Supervise staff; conduct regular staff meetings and individual performance reviews.
  • Participate in staffing processes, including interviews and candidate recommendations; onboarding.
  • Support centralized workflows/tools and contribute to the development of knowledgebase.
  • Lead quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives and assist in accreditation prep.
  • Oversee resident match activities and ensure timelines and documentation compliance.

Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Position Summary:Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Student Affairs, the Student Affairs Manager ensures stable, effective, and consistent support to their assigned clinical education programs/courses, in accordance with accreditation standards. The Student Affairs Manager ensures the continuity of quality support, supervises and supports student affairs staff, and contributes to the development and implementation of tools and initiatives related to administrative support for clinical educational activities.Primary Responsibilities:Participate in relevant SoM educational governance meetings (e.g. FPGEC)Foster effective working relationships with Program/Course Directors to ensure smooth operations for PGME and UGME activities.Hold regular meetings with Program/Course Directors to:Direct supervision of student affairs staff.Hold regular meetings with individual staff members to:Participate in staffing processes, including interview process, and recommendations on candidates.Participate in onboarding of new staff and evaluate and assess needs for training for employees. Conduct performance evaluations and make assessments and recommendations on trial period /probationary period performance.Ensure regular touch points between the administrator and the Program/Course DirectorOn an ongoing basis, support consistent understanding of centralized workflows and tools, discuss and resolve issues.Participate in SoM Clinical Student Affairs team meetings to:Participate in the development of the Clinical Student Affairs knowledgebase.Participate in preparation for accreditation activities for assigned programsLead and/or participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiativesProvide oversight for activities related to resident match ensuring compliance with timelines, policies, and documentation standards.Other Qualifying Skills and/or AbilitiesMinimum 5 years of experience in an administrative, academic, healthcare, or student affairs environment. Demonstrated experience supervising staff, including coaching, mentoring and performance management. Proven ability to delegate work effectively, manage workloads, and ensure operational continuity across a team. Experience in recruitment, onboarding, and training activities. Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Strong project management and process improvement skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
