Job summary

COWI is seeking a Structures Design Manager for North America, based in North Vancouver, BC. The role leads a multidisciplinary team to deliver engineering analyses, design, reports and drawings for heavy civil structures on the Fraser River Tunnel Project (FRTP).

The manager collaborates with Client, OE, Designer and Independent Reviewer to ensure budget, quality, and schedule adherence. Ideal candidate has 10+ years in heavy civil design and management, P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• P.Eng. license in BC is required.
• Minimum 10 years of design/management experience in heavy civil structures.
• Knowledge of Canadian codes; international codes an asset.
• Experience delivering structural projects for public and private clients.
• Proficiency with structural software; BIM experience is an asset.
• Project management experience; PMP or equivalent would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of the cut and cover tunnel and industrial structures team for FRTP.
• Collaborate with Client, OE Team, Designer, Independent Reviewer and stakeholders.
• Act as Client Design Manager for delivery of tunnel and industrial structures packages.
• Deliver progress reporting on schedule and budget.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces and deliver integrated projects.
• Chair design management meetings with OE, Design and Independent Review teams.
• Ensure adherence to quality systems and effective stakeholder communication.
• Contribute to production, review and approval of design deliverables.
• Provide input on digital delivery and information management from conception to completion.
• Mentor team members.
