Job summary

Ganotec is seeking a Structural Steel Superintendent in Edmonton to lead Foremen and craft workers across multiple sites. You will oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, and QA, ensuring work aligns with drawings and specs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of construction industry experience with at least 3 years in a superintendent or equivalent leadership position, preferably within structural steel discipline.
  • Proven capability to supervise steel trade, including steel erection, with understanding of complex construction processes.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with strong decision-making and initiative.
  • Familiarity with Ganotec policies, procedures, and project management/reporting software tools.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and proactive resolution of on-site issues.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills to lead diverse teams.
  • Experience in safety management, negotiations, planning, and administration to ensure compliant project delivery.

Position Overview

Join Ganotec in the vital role of Structural Steel Superintendent, where you will oversee and guide a diverse team consisting of Foremen and craft workers across multiple project sites. You will play a key role in managing the planning, scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance of construction activities, ensuring all work aligns with project drawings and specifications. District Overview

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. Location

This Structural Superintendent position is based in Edmonton.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate crew activities to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive project plans and schedules in collaboration with project management teams.
  • Monitor daily operations within assigned disciplines, conducting thorough inspections to maintain quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Deliver job site safety training and promote a culture of safety awareness among all personnel to minimize risks and incidents.
  • Manage and control project budgets by enforcing cost control measures and proactively addressing potential financial impacts.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards to ensure all work meets or exceeds contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate communication across teams, resolve operational challenges promptly, and adapt to changing project conditions with agility and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of construction industry experience with at least 3 years in a superintendent or equivalent leadership position, preferably within structural steel discipline.
  • Proven capability to supervise steel trade, including steel erection, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of complex construction processes.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently with strong decision-making skills and initiative.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate Ganotec’s policies, procedures, and software tools essential for project management and reporting.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, capable of anticipatory thinking and effective resolution of on-site issues.
  • Outstanding organizational skills paired with strong communication and interpersonal abilities to lead diverse teams and foster collaborative working relationships.
  • Extensive experience in leadership roles encompassing safety management, contractual negotiations, planning, and administration, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and compliantly. #LI-IS1

Base Compensation: $130,000/yr - $180,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
