Job summary

RJC Engineers in Edmonton is seeking a Structural Restoration Engineer or Technologist to assess, rehabilitate, and restore existing structures. Responsibilities

Candidate Profile

The Structural Restoration Engineer or Technologist will work collaboratively with project teams to assess, rehabilitate, and restore existing structures. From field investigations and condition assessments through design development and construction support, they will contribute to projects that enhance the safety, durability, and performance of the built environment. The ideal candidate is a motivated learner who is passionate about solving complex technical challenges and delivering practical, client-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Site investigation and evaluation of existing structures
  • Preparation of reports and studies
  • Preparation of drawings and specifications for various structural
  • Design and analysis of structural to determine effective repair alternatives
  • Work with a Project Engineer/Technologist within the project team environment from conceptual and preliminary stages of the project design through to its completion
  • Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Contract administration/construction review while implementing the retrofit/rehabilitation work

Professional Qualifications & Experience

EDUCATION

  • Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited university. Preference for those candidates with completed courses in Building Restoration, Building Science and Project Management

Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, Building Science, or a related discipline.

EXPERIENCE

  • 0 to 4 years of related experience in structural restoration, building assessment, construction, engineering consulting, or a related field.
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with APEGA (Engineer) or ASET (Technologist).

SKILLS

  • Committed to client service and technical excellence
  • Understanding of building structural systems
  • Previous experience in the construction, including field, trades, co-op, or internship experience, is considered an asset.
  • Team player with ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Fast learner with a keen eye for detail and the desire to grow professionally and personally
  • Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what is required and can draw rational conclusions from available information
  • Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to conceptualize in three dimensions
  • Aptitude for working with existing facilities and comfortable working at heights
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle
