Job summary

Morskate Manufacturing, a family-run structural steel maker in Ponoka, Alberta, is expanding and seeking a dependable Structural Junior Drafter to join our team. You will create accurate drawings for beams, columns, stairs, and handrails, and generate models, cut lists, and CNC data files to support fabrication.

Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, you will use Tekla and SolidWorks, work in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Drafting experience is an asset.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Experience with Tekla and SolidWorks is an asset.
• Strong communication, time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent attendance record.
• Prepare detail drawings of part drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
• Provide fabrication with cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process.
• Model small miscellaneous items.
• Prioritize, organize and maintain assigned projects to meet schedules; communicate changes to management.
• Identify and assist in continual improvement processes in support of company goals.
• Create drawings for field installation.
• Import model information into ERP system.

Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

Position Summary

Morskate Manufacturing is expanding in a big way! We're adding 90,000+ sq. ft. to our facility and investing in exciting new technology as we continue to grow. With this expansion comes an exciting opportunity—we are currently seeking a dependable and hardworking Structural Junior Drafter to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, you will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed technical drawings for structural steel components including beams, columns, stairs, and handrails. Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, this role supports the fabrication process by producing models, cut lists, and CNC files using drafting software. Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent attendance record
• Prepare detail drawings of part drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
• Provide fabrication with cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process
• Model small miscellaneous items

Requirements/Qualifications

• Previous drafting experience an asset
• Proficient in MS Office
• Previous experience using Tekla and SolidWorks an asset

• Able to work independently or as part of a team

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $25.00 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role.
