Job summary

Englobe is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern in Ottawa to support the Structural Engineering team. You will assist with site investigations, data collection and the preparation of reports under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers.

Responsibilities include assisting with structural condition assessments, calculations and design of concrete, steel, masonry and wood elements, and coordinating deliverables while collaborating with engineers and project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural option) or Structural Engineering (new graduates encouraged).
• Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with PEO (asset).
• Academic or co‑op experience in structural engineering or construction (asset).
• Foundational knowledge of structural analysis and design principles (steel, concrete, wood, masonry).
• Exposure to structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, SAFI).
• Interest in site reviews and field investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication; English required (French asset).
• Comfortable working independently and in a team.
• Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance.
• Valid driver’s licence; travel across Ontario as required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in structural site investigations, inspections and reviews; collect field data and assist with technical reports and compliance letters.
• Assist in assessment and documentation of existing structural conditions via structural condition assessments and studies.
• Support engineering calculations, analysis and design of structural elements under licensed Engineers.
• Assist with preparation and coordination of project deliverables like technical reports, drawings and specs.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, clients and contractors through project lifecycle.
• Support the Engineering team to meet scope, schedule and budget objectives.
• Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety policies.
