The Opportunity: WSP is growing and has an opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Water & Wastewater Facilities Structural Team located in Thornhill, Ontario. As an engineer with us, you will be part of our growing team, using your skills and engineering expertise to design and partner on major infrastructure projects in Canada from coast to coast. You will be an integral part of our dynamic structural team, working on water treatment plants, reservoirs, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, underground liquid retaining tanks, chambers, solid waste management facilities, and other infrastructure facilities.

Job Description

• Create structural analysis and design models, engineering calculation spreadsheets, hand calculations for structural components and entire structures.
• Generate markups based on analysis results for BIM modellers and drafters using Bluebeam software or manual markups.
• Participate in construction services, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, change order assessments, and on-site inspections.
• Conduct site surveys, gather field data, and perform condition assessments of existing structures.
• Facilitate collaboration between design and construction teams.
• Mentor and share expertise with junior staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in a dynamic role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in Water and Wastewater facility or solid waste facility structural design across Canada.
• Professional Engineer License in Canada.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Staad.Pro, S-Frame, CSI series; basic knowledge of BIM360 and REVIT.
• Strong communication skills (verbal/written).
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
