Job summary

AtkinsRéalis's Vancouver office is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to support the Structural Building team. You will design plans, conduct studies, supervise construction, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines while maintaining client relationships.

The role requires a P.Eng or eligibility, a Civil Engineering degree, and at least five years of related experience; BC code knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• Master's degree in structural engineering is an asset.
• P.Eng with EGBC registration or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Minimum five years of related structural engineering experience.
• Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE).
• Ability to mentor entry-level engineers and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and preparation of plans and specifications for structures.
• Conduct structural studies, surveys, reports and inspections.
• Supervise structural work during construction.
• Ensure engineering output complies with NBCC and BCBC codes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project activities and maintain client relations.
• Provide guidance to team members and manage evolving priorities.

Overview

The Structural Building team is currently looking for a motivated and skilled Structural Engineer to support the growth of the local office. This position is based out of our Vancouver office working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.

Your role

• Actively participate in the design and preparation of plans and specifications (steel, concrete, wood, masonry, etc.).
• Conduct studies, surveys, technical reports and structural inspections.
• Supervise the execution of structural work during the construction phase.
• Ensure that the engineering work is produced according to the quality standards of the industry and respect the National Building Code and British Columbia Building Code.
• Coordinate projects that impact your structural design with the other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, architecture, process, etc.).
• Maintain and develop client and stakeholder relationships.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Minimum five (5) years of previous related experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.).
• Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage changing priorities.

Compensation

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
