Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead design and rehabilitation of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric facilities in Canada and abroad. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, producing engineering deliverables, and supervising junior staff.

The candidate should have a civil engineering degree (structural), 10+ years of relevant experience, EGBC eligibility, and proficiency with SAP2000, Abaqus, and ANSYS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural profile
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in design and rehabilitation of water retaining structures, bridges and heavy civil engineering structures
• EGBC membership and eligible for professional engineer registration in Canada
• Fluency in English; bilingualism is an asset
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of SAP2000, Abaqus, ANSYS
• Practical field experience supporting engineering, construction, operations, or maintenance is an asset

Overview

AtkinsRéalis has a large experienced hydroelectric team (over 100 employees), mainly composed of engineers and technicians, located in Montreal and Vancouver. The areas of activity of this team include geotechnics and geology, civil engineering and structure, hydrology and hydraulics, mechanics and electricity.

Our hydroelectric team covers the Canadian market, but sometimes also the international market. It is therefore possible that you will be asked to participate in projects both in Canada and internationally.

Your role

• Structural design of hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power plants and related structures (concrete and steel);
• Rehabilitation of hydraulic works, hydroelectric power plants and related structures;
• Multidisciplinary coordination, attending and leading design meetings (internally and with the client);
• Production of preliminary and detailed engineering, and preparation and/or verification of design calculations and associated calculation notes;
• Participation and supervision of the production of the main technical deliverables, i.e. design reports, structural drawings and technical specifications for calls for tenders and for construction;
• Supervision and mentoring of junior staff;
• Follow-up the works during construction.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural profile, Master's degree in civil engineering, an asset;
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the design and rehabilitation of water retaining structures, bridges and heavy civil engineering structures. Knowledge of Canadian Dam Safety guidelines.
• Being a member of the EGBC and being eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Canada;
• Fluency in English (spoken and written), bilingualism, an asset;
• Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of SAP2000, Abaqus, ANSY;
• Practical field experience supporting engineering, construction, operations, or maintenance activities is an asset.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
