Job summary

Englobe in Canada seeks a Civil Engineer with a structural focus to lead structural deliverables, perform assessments, and support Atlantic Canada projects. This role blends design, analysis, and site reviews within a collaborative, safety-focused environment. You will engage with multidisciplinary teams, prepare calculations, drawings, and cost estimates, and contribute to continuous improvement.

A P.Eng. or eligibility with a Canadian regulator is expected, with at least 5 years of relevant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus and professional registration or eligibility.
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in consulting or infrastructure contexts.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian codes, standards and best practices.
• Experience in design, assessment, inspection, contract administration, and project delivery.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and contract documents; proficient with design software.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety leadership by adhering to Englobe's health and safety policies; promote programs.
• Conduct structural condition assessments, field investigations, site reviews, and prepare technical reports.
• Inspect and evaluate structures made of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
• Prepare engineering deliverables including design calculations, drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
• Support planning, coordination and delivery of structural projects across Atlantic Canada.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and coordinate project deliverables.
• Develop structural design concepts, sketches, and practical engineering solutions.
• Review shop drawings, respond to site inquiries, and provide on-site technical support.
• Track progress and communicate updates to project managers and senior staff.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through innovation and knowledge sharing.

Your main responsibilities

• Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety leadership by adhering to and promoting Englobe's health and safety policies, procedures, and programs;

What makes you unique

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is considered an asset;
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering or infrastructure environment;
• Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, design standards, and engineering best practices;
• Experience in structural design, assessment, construction inspection, contract administration, and project delivery;
• Knowledge of structural construction methods and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents;
• Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software;
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and client interaction;
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams;
• Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGNB, Engineers Nova Scotia, PEGNL, or another Canadian engineering regulatory body.
