Job summary

Englobe is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead projects across Atlantic Canada. You will conduct site reviews, prepare reports, and develop design concepts for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures. The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to Canadian codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's preferred as an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in consulting/infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead health and safety practices on projects.
• Conduct structural assessments, site reviews, and prepare technical reports.
• Inspect structural systems in concrete, steel, masonry and timber.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specs and cost estimates.
• Support project delivery across Atlantic Canada.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on deliverables.
• Develop design concepts and practical engineering solutions.
• Review shop drawings and provide construction support.
• Track progress and report to managers.

Your main responsibilities

• Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety leadership by adhering to and promoting Englobe's health and safety policies, procedures, and programs;
• Conduct structural condition assessments, field investigations, and site reviews, and prepare clear, concise technical reports;
• Inspect and evaluate structural systems and components composed of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber;
• Prepare engineering deliverables including design calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates;
• Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of structural engineering projects across Atlantic Canada;
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and coordinate project deliverables;
• Develop structural design concepts, sketches, and practical engineering solutions to address project objectives;
• Review shop drawings, respond to site inquiries, and provide technical support during construction;
• Track project progress and communicate timely updates to project managers and senior team members;
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through innovation, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing.

What makes you unique

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is considered an asset;
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering or infrastructure environment;
• Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, design standards, and engineering best practices;
• Experience in structural design, assessment, construction inspection, contract administration, and project delivery;
• Knowledge of structural construction methods and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents;
• Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software;
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and client interaction;
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams;
• Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGNB, Engineers Nova Scotia, PEGNL, or another Canadian engineering regulatory body.
