Job summary

Englobe is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to join a dynamic team across Atlantic Canada. You will conduct assessments, prepare design deliverables, and support project delivery on diverse infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with a structural specialization, 5+ years of experience, and is eligible for P.Eng./APEGNB. Englobe offers a hybrid work arrangement, health benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural specialization; master's is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of Canadian building codes and design standards.
  • Experience in design, assessment, construction inspection, and project delivery.
  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural condition assessments, field investigations, and site reviews.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Support planning and delivery of structural projects across Atlantic Canada.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to site inquiries.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop deliverables.
  • Track project progress and report to managers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through innovation and knowledge sharing.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety leadership by adhering to and promoting Englobe's health and safety policies, procedures, and programs;
  • Conduct structural condition assessments, field investigations, and site reviews, and prepare clear, concise technical reports;
  • Inspect and evaluate structural systems and components composed of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber;
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including design calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates;
  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of structural engineering projects across Atlantic Canada;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and coordinate project deliverables;
  • Develop structural design concepts, sketches, and practical engineering solutions to address project objectives;
  • Review shop drawings, respond to site inquiries, and provide technical support during construction;
  • Track project progress and communicate timely updates to project managers and senior team members;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through innovation, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing.
What Makes You Unique
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is considered an asset;
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering or infrastructure environment;
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, design standards, and engineering best practices;
  • Experience in structural design, assessment, construction inspection, contract administration, and project delivery;
  • Knowledge of structural construction methods and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents;
  • Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and client interaction;
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGNB, Engineers Nova Scotia, PEGNL, or another Canadian engineering regulatory body.
