Category Specialist, Process Chemicals

* Flex -- in Montreal office 3 days per week

* 35 hours per week

* 10-15% travel time, within North America

* 12 month initial contract

Role Purpose:

The Procurement Senior Analyst will be responsible to support the Category Manager in the development of category strategies and to execute the sourcing plan outlined in the strategy. Main activities include regular reviews with key internal stakeholders, updates and adjustments to the Category Strategy and Sourcing Plan, contract drafting and execution, commercial negotiations, supplier relationship management and supply chain management.

This role is a great opportunity for a motivated Procurement Analyst professional to execute and support regional sourcing activities which contribute to the delivery of commercially favourable outcomes and optimal value to the Rio Tinto Business Unit.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Be able to develop a high level of trust and work in a matrix environment: develop strong relationship with internal stakeholders in order to better support the business requirements.
2. Supporting the category specialist with mainly data-driven requests (reports), troubleshooting supplier concerns, bidding events, updating price agreements. Other: spend data, market research, supplier information, contract requirements.
3. Having the possibility to manage small spend categories following the Rio Tinto category management cycle, guided by the category specialist.
4. Working with team to address process improvements (internal & external).
5. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
6. Support the category strategy development and identify new opportunities for savings and improvements on total cost of ownership.

About You:

1. Bachelor Degree in Commerce / Business/Finance, Engineering or equivalent;
2. Minimum of 7 years of procurement & supply chain experience;
3. Health and safety consciousness, adhere to a code of ethical conduct.
4. Multitasking, self-starter and team player with a positive attitude
5. Experience with the SAP system, Microsoft Office and Ariba;
6. Previous experience with multi-national companies in Manufacturing, Utilities, Automotive, Rail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods industries;
7. Sound communication, Analytical thinking, operations and data analysis skills
8. Ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders (English and French proficiency).
