The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing tactics to ensure a cost-effective and efficient supply chain. They support the PMO as an ambassador of supply chain for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Operational Steering Committee (OSC) projects. They are responsible for selecting, evaluating and managing supplier relationships. The Technical Sourcing Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and maximize the value we derive from our suppliers.
Your Impact Through Innovation
- Maintain a category & sourcing strategy that meets the business objectives and follows a disciplined approach for supplier/material sourcing.
Supplier Evaluation and Selection:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with company goals.
- Support the PMO for NPI and OSC Projects.
- Support strategic business partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business needs.
Supply Chain Optimization:
- Collaborate with Supply Chain & engineering teams (R&D & Process Engineering) to optimize and support procurement, purchasing, planning, contract development and negotiation.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings across the supply chain and take action to achieve cost reductions or improve cost effectiveness.
Negotiation:
- Lead routine negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and agreements while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Take a supporting role in complex negotiations.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of supply. Build and strengthen relationships with key suppliers.
- Participate in the supplier management program. Work with suppliers to mitigate supply risks, reduce costs and improve terms.
- Actively seek out industry knowledge through research, trade shows, conferences and online training, establishing a role as a trusted advisor to other staff members within the organization.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements; work in conjunction with the quality department to support compliance to quality system, resolution of quality issues, audits and CAPA program.
- Support product transfer activities from R&D into manufacturing through participation and resource deployment.
- Adhere to all Corporate, Quality and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills:
- University education in science or engineering.
- 4+ years of related work experience in strategic sourcing or procurement or other related experience.
- Must be knowledgeable concerning materials management, purchasing, planning, scheduling, ERP, and general production principles.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills, a high attention to detail and good planning skills.
- Proficient in MS Office including Advanced MS Excel.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
Asset Skills:
- University education in Science/Engineering/Supply Chain and/or Master's degree.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management.
